Lachine Hospital Foundation’s Breakfast raises $15,000 for Palliative Care
Over 300 people dropped by Dorval Bar and Grill on Saturday, October 19th for the Foundation’s 9th annual breakfast fundraiser which raised $15,000 in support of the palliative care unit at Lachine Hospital.
‘’We are very happy with the results of this year’s community breakfast,’’ said Monica McDougall, Executive Director of the Foundation. ‘’and we are extremely fortunate that through this event we are able to offer additional comfort to palliative care patients and their families, at a time when it is most needed.’’ McDougall went on to say that a portion of the funds raised will be used to cover the costs of music and massage therapy – services that are not covered by government funding but are essential to patients’ well-being.
This family-oriented event was once again popular with children who received balloons and stuffed toys. Lachine Hospital employees and volunteers helped serve coffee to participants, and a half and half draw took place.
