METRO Inc. donates $50K to the Dream Big: Lachine Hospital campaign

Lachine, July 14, 2023—A new $50,000 donation from METRO Inc. is bringing the Lachine Hospital Foundation one step closer to its big dreams. The donation will help purchase state-of-the-art equipment to complement the revitalization and expanded Lachine Hospital, which broke ground in Fall 2022.

“METRO is pleased to contribute to the Lachine Hospital campaign, which is in line with its purpose—nourish the health and well-being of our communities. The privileged relationship that our affiliated merchants and pharmacist owners maintain with the community enable us to support projects that meet the needs of the communities they serve.”

“This support from METRO, its merchants and pharmacist owners, will enable the Lachine Hospital to improve the care it provides to the West Island population.”

—Marie-Claude Bacon, Vice-President, Public Affairs and Communications, METRO

Every donation to the Dream Big: Lachine Hospital campaign supports new equipment not funded by the government, including immersive multi-sensory tools for palliative care, therapeutic baths on patient units and audio-visual integration for teaching in the OR.

The Lachine Hospital is committed to offering the world-class care of the MUHC at a friendly, community-based hospital. Already staffed with talented and compassionate health care professionals, the expanded and revitalized hospital will ensure every resident of the West Island can benefit from their care.

“We are so grateful to METRO for recognizing the importance of this project and for their generous donation. The impact of their gift will be felt across the West Island.”

A collaboration between the Lachine Hospital Foundation and the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Foundation, Dream Big: Lachine Hospital is raising $5M to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for the revitalized Lachine Hospital. In April 2023, the MUHC announced that the Lachine Hospital’s emergency department would reopen and accept walk-in patients and ambulances 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The MUHC and the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) are ensuring a promising future for Lachine Hospital.
