Every year on the first Saturday of May, the Lachine Hospital Foundation holds its major fundraising event. Plans and preparations were in full swing this past March, but came to a screeching halt when the coronavirus pandemic hit.
This year’s event had all the makings for a fantastic evening, which would have celebrated New Orleans – one of the world’s most vibrant cities. Scheduled to take place on May 2nd at the Marriott In-Terminal Hotel, plans were in the making for the 400+ expected guests to experience all the great things about the city, in particular the music, and of course the food.
Just before the Foundation closed down for several weeks, sponsors and invited guests of the event were advised of the situation. It was a big disappointment for everyone involved, not to mention a setback for the Foundation’s fundraising goals, but good timing prevailed as only a few expenses had been incurred for the event at that point – most of which will be carried forward.
It’s often said that in times of difficulty, clouds have silver linings. The Foundation can certainly attest to this because several of the sponsors who had agreed to support the event still did, in spite of it being cancelled! We would like to express our gratitude to:
