Family meals for Lachine Hospital Employees

In recognition of the dedication of hospital staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lachine Hospital Foundation offered a free family meal for 4 people, to each employee. In collaboration with Restaurant Andrea in Lachine, employees placed their orders during the week of May 25th and picked up their food the following week. To ensure that workers from all shifts were able to benefit, three different pick-up times were set up at the restaurant – 7:30 to 8:30am, 3:00 to 5:30pm and 11:30pm to 12:30am.

“The Foundation wanted to acknowledge the efforts of the workers and at the same time express appreciation to their families who have been affected by the additional hours that many of their parents or spouses have spent away from home,” said Jacques Filion, Chairman of the Foundation.

More than two thirds of the hospital staff participated which resulted in the preparation of close to 1,900 meals. Andrea Telaro, owner of Restaurant Andrea and long-time supporter of the Foundation was happy to be able to take part. “The hospital is an integral part of the Lachine community and it’s important that the employees know just how valued they are,” he stated.

Doctors, nurses, managers, orderlies, technicians, maintenance and administrative workers alike, were all touched by the Foundation’s initiative. Many expressed how relieved they were by not having to worry about preparing supper that day, and several workers coming off double shifts were particularly grateful for the gesture.

Julie Dumaine, manager of medical imaging summed things up nicely in her message to the Foundation : “On behalf of my team in the radiology department we thank you for the delicious meal that you provided to us. I’m convinced that there are many of us at the hospital that haven’t eaten this well with our families since the start of the pandemic.”

The Foundation thanks all of the employees for their hard work and dedication.
