The leadership of the partner foundations of the MUHC welcomes Dr. Pierre Gfeller as the new President and CEO of the MUHC
As partner foundations of the MUHC, we wish to congratulate Dr. Pierre Gfeller on his appointment as the new President and CEO of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) and extend our support to him. We have confidence in the excellent choice made by the MUHC Board of Directors and the Health Minister and look forward to working with Dr. Gfeller as our foundations and our communities continue to support the MUHC in its mission of being one of the world’s foremost academic health centres. We believe that Dr. Gfeller’s experience and knowledge will bring to the MUHC the leadership required for the continued excellence of our academic health centre across all its sites.
Holder of a doctorate in medicine from McGill University and MBA from the Université du Québec à Montréal and Paris-Dauphine, Dr. Gfeller has more than 37 years of experience in the health and social services network, including more than 20 years as a manager. The new CEO has gained solid experience in the healthcare sector as well as university led education and research. He also holds a graduate degree in Public Health from Laval University.
The partner foundations would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Martine Alfonso for tirelessly steering the MUHC through challenging waters during her interim as President and CEO since September 2, 2016. The MUHC enters this new era on a stronger footing and ready to take on the challenges of the next decade and we look forward to continuing this process with Dr. Gfeller.
The partner foundations of the MUHC also wish to thank all of our donors who continue to be inspired by the exceptional care and innovation that is taking place at all of the MUHC’s hospital sites. It is thanks to the generosity of our communities that the MUHC remains at the forefront of patient care, research and teaching. The MUHC is an important asset in our province, and together with your support, under Dr. Gfeller’s leadership, we are onfident that we can ensure that the MUHC continues to expand its role as a world class academic health centre.
